SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES

Harvard Square Editions is now accepting novella and short story submissions for publication. Writers join the Harvard Square Editions editing group upon acceptance of submissions. They also work with the editors on other writers' work to be published on the site and in a print anthology.

By submitting your work to Harvard Square Editions, you have agreed to work with one or more Harvard Square Editions authors who will help with the editing of your piece, and to edit at least one other piece. If your piece is accepted, we will ask you if you would like to have it published on the site.

Readers can review and comment on stories posted on the HSE web site, for further editing if appropriate. Comments are moderated before they are posted to the web.

Harvard Square Editions may offer to include your piece in a printed anthology.

HSE seeks work of the highest literary quality, but does not arrange the site according to a thematic topic. We publish both established and emerging writers. We are looking for short stories, personal essays and memoirs. Self-contained novel excerpts are acceptable.

Please send submissions in the body of an e-mail, including the author's name and contact info and a one-paragraph bio in third person to:

submissions (at) harvardsquareeditions (dot) org

in e-mail address format. (The address is spelled out here to reduce spam.) Attachments will not be opened. Authors are expected to state whether a piece is being considered elsewhere, and must inform Harvard Square Editions immediately if the piece has been accepted by another publication. Failure to do so will cause the editors of Harvard Square Editions to refuse consideration of works from the author in the future.

Cover designs are welcome.
